Encinitas is a coastline city 25 miles north of downtown San Diego and about 95 miles south of Los Angeles. It is located north of Solana Beach, south of Carlsbad, west of Rancho Santa Fe and facing the Pacific Ocean. Encinitas can be divided into five areas: Old Encinitas where the famous Swamis surf spot and La Paloma Theatre; New Encinitas that features a golf course and have a couple of shopping centers; Olivenhain, a rural housing region and several equestrian facilities; Leucadia, a beach community that have an abundance of art galleries, restaurants and beaches such as Beacons and Grandview; and lastly, Cardiff-by-the-Sea, the southernmost coastline community of Encinitas. There are a lot of schools to choose from Encinitas. It is being handled by four school districts namely; Cadiff School District, Encinitas Union School District; Mira Costa College District; and San Dieguito Union High School District.

There are over ten public and private schools that offers elementary such as Ada Elementary School; Encinitas Country Day School, a private school that offers K-12 and have campuses at Manchester Ave. and Encinitas Blvd; Saint John School, a K-8 Catholic school at Encinitas Blvd. There's also the Grauer School, a private school that offers middle school to high school right down at El Camino Real; San Dieguito Academy, formerly known as San Dieguito Union High School and San Dieguito High School; and lastly there are a couple of colleges such as Mira Costa College, St. Katherine College and California Institure of Humann Science. It also has the famous visual art school Watts Atelier of the Arts.

Attractions in Encinitas

There are lots of things to check out or add to your itinerary when visiting Encinitas. From street fairs such as: April Street Fair, an annual street fair held every April in downtown Encinitas, Lima Bean Fair and Battle of the Beans cook off every September at San Dieguito Heritage Museum; and Fall Festival every November. To Classic Car Cruise Nights which showcases classic cars every third Thursday of each month of May-September. Other points of interests and notable attractions are the Lux Art Institute for art appreciation, San Diego Botanic Garden also known as Quail Botanical Gardens; and lastly, one of the top 5 surfing locations in the world, the Swami's.
