El Cajon, otherwise known as "the Big Box" is one of California's premiere destinations to live, work and play. The name "El Cajon" means "the box" in Spanish and the city was probably named as such, because it is a city boxed in by mountains from all four directions (La Mesa and San Diego on the west, Santee on the north, Spring Valley on the south and unincorporated San Diego on the east). The city of El Cajon is known for its vibrant and diverse community complete with safe and attractive neighborhoods with parks, libraries and amenities.

Despite being nicknamed the "The Big Box", the city of El Cajon is not at all boxed out from the world. El Cajon is home to global and nationally known corporations, such as Taylor Guitars (one of the premier guitar manufacturing companies in the world), and the city is also known for its 14 car dealerships (which includes Mercedes-Benz, BMW and Lexus).
