Lakeside is a community part of the region East County, San Diego in California. It was named since the area's geography is surrounded by lakes. Found in 1886, it is known as the "cowboy town" and "rodeo town" because of its rural/farm setting that have plenty of horse ranches. Located North East from downtown San Diego, Lakeside still hosts its annual PRCA-sanctioned Lakeside Rodeo and Lakeside Optimists' Bulls Only Radio. Zip Code is 92040.

Lakeside has around 30 schools ranging from pre-school to high school. Although there are no colleges in the area, the nearest one, San Diego Christian School, is just 4 miles away from Lakeside.



Attractions

Being a community within the lakes, you can definitely enjoy some water activities in Lakeside such as fishing, sailing and even water skiing in some parts of the lake. Lake Jennings is open the whole year for campers who wish to enjoy the scenic view of the lake. You can hike and setup for picnic. RV's, trailers as well as tents have a space so you don't have to worry about that. Fishing is open to public but you have to obtain a California fishing license prior to doing so. Aside from being one of the largest capacities of water reserve in San Diego, El Capitan Reservoir serves as a park for visitors in which you can setup picnics, do some fishing, sailing and even water sports such as wakeboarding wand water skiing.

If nature is not your thing, you may want to visit Barona Resort & Casino which offers a handful of services for having the perfect vacation. There's the casino, as Barona is known as the one having the "Best Blackjack" in the country. Also, there's the resort which offers state of the art fitness centers, a spa, the golf course and lastly, they accept wedding receptions.
