Clairemont (or Clairemont Mesa) in San Diego, is a community built in 1950 by Carlos Tavares and Lou Burgener. It is known as the San Diego's largest subdivision during the post-world war II era. It covers Clairemont Mesa West, Clairemont Mesa East, Bay Park, Bay Ho, and North Clairmemont. Located right above Linda Vista, it borders the Interstate 805 by the east side, State Route 52 to the north, Interstate 5 at the west and Linda Vista to the south. Zip codes are 92117, 92110 and 9211.


Clairemont who's a part of the San Diego Unified School District which consist of twelve elementary schools, two middle schools, two senior high schools and a community college. There are also five schools with specialized programs located in the vicinity.


Tecolote Canyon Natural Park & Visitor Center is a 903 acre canyon located majority within Clairemont with some parts of it reaching Linda Vista, visitors can go for a hike and enjoy the natural environment and habitat it offers. There is an existing wildlife here of coyotes, parrots and owls. Reaching the southern part of the canyon will be the Tecolote Canyon Golf Course, an 18 hole course designed by Robert Trent Jones, Sr. and Sam Snead which has been rated as the "Best Challenge at an Executive Golf Course" by Southland Golf.

Another famous spot that can be found in Clairemont, San Diego is the Marian Bear Memorial Park also known as the San Clemente Canyon. This 467 acre canyon is rich with history as signs of Native Americans settling in San Diego County were proven and still remains here. It used to be called Clemente Canyon named after the Native American rancher, but in the 1980's, was changed to Marian Bear Memorial Park to remember the continuous support and dedication to preserve the natural state of the canyon by the community leader and environmentalist, Marian Bear. It offers picnic benches by the main entrances of the canyon. And same as Tecolote Canyon, visitors can enjoy 3 miles of trail good for some tranquil nature hiking and/or enjoy the wildlife experience as Raccoons, coyotes, amphibians and other native mammals are still being preserved.

Clairemont also offers its community Krause Family Skate/Bike Park in which children or adults who enjoy skating, roller blades or bikers a course compete with concrete pool, half pipes, mini ramps and even an X-Game vert ramp to play with. They also offer events/tournaments, private lessons, skate camps and even birthday parties.

After a long tiring day at the canyons, you may want to get some grub. Clairemont offers a variation of cuisine. There's Sipz Fusion Cafe that offers 100% vegetarian for healthy eaters, Mister Falafel if you're craving for something Mediterranean. Or perhaps something from the oriental aisle, Ramen Yamadaya will definitely satisfy your Japanese cravings.
