Bonita is a community located east of Chula Vista, north of Rancho Del Rey, and South of Paradise Hills. Large portions of modern Bonita consist of housing tracts built from 1960 – 1980 such as Bonita Verde Estates, Bonita Fairways, Emerald Ranch, Lynwood Hills, Ames Ranch etc… Zip codes are 91902 and 91908.

There are several districts that handle the education in Bonita. There's Chula Vista Elementary School District that covers the elementary schools within the area such as Sunnyside Elementary School and Valley Vista Elementary School. Sweetwater Union High School District on the other hand handles middle school and high school in Bonita with Bonita Vista Middle School and Bonita Vista High School. And finally, there's Southwestern Community College District which handle collegiate education with Southwestern College on the Bonita area.

Attractions In Bonita

Bonita is known for its long walking trail which covers the Chula Vista Municipal Golf Course. There are hundreds of residents/visitors who take this trail for everyday fitness or to enjoy the scenic view it offers. Bonita is also considered a rural area in which equestrian is famous within the community. Public parks such as Sweetwater Regional Park were vastly improved to extend the walking and equestrian trails of the park which even include a camping area at the Summit Meadow Road. Wildlife is populated by coyotes, racoon, fox, rabbits, squirrels, opossum, skunks and many more.

Being a rural suburbia, Bonita is full of parks, reservoirs and golf courses. There are two golf courses in the area namely Bonita Golf Course and Chula Vista Municipal Golf Course. Parks such as Fred H. Rohr Park, Sweetwater Regional Park, Sweetwater County Park and even Sweetwater Reservoir Riding and Hiking Trail will keep you busy and amazed with a various of outdoor activities that can be done.

Finally, Bonita is known for its annual community event, the Bonitafest. Bonitafest celebrates history, family, community, to celebrate the heritage and spirit of Bonita and the Sweetwater Valley. It is usually held during early autumn, with parades and street fairs along Bonita Road which includes music, food and local crafts. There is also a Golf Tournament during the said festivities.
